D's crew was nominated for and received the Admiral Chester R. Bender Award for Heroism on May 2, 2008, which meant that we got to go to San Francisco for 2 days.
The dinner and the ceremony were really nice and poor J. had to give a short speech...anyone who know him is well aware that he doesn't really enjoy giving speeches....
The crew with their award. I believe the clock is up at the air station now....nevertheless if D. never gets another award like this I won't complain, I'd rather not have him fly during a similar case ever again...

I've always wanted to see the bridge....not a chance I'd want to drive over it.....
The most crooked street.....I don't think our truck would be able to navigate it..

This was a lot of fun, riding up and down those hills, hanging on for dear life to a metal pole....
If there was a fourth monkey that's what he would be doing...
Alcatraz prison from afar. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to tour it... maybe next time...
What a fun place..I got to eat lots of yummy sea food while D. had some pizza.

The hotel was very, very nice but maybe a bit too nice because I was wearing crocs and pants rather than a skirt and heels.
A view from the top. The VIP reception was in a room on top of the hotel and the view was amazing.

I'm glad we're going to Savannah I think moving here would have been quite a shock after Kodiak....it's like a people zoo and the cost of living is insanely high.....Posted by Picasa
I can tell you that walking up and down some of these hills is a pretty good work out. I still haven't figured out how people do it in high heels.
China Town....that was rather interesting as well but we decided not to eat the food.

This was a really pretty church in Chinatown.....Posted by Picasa
