So we went on a cruise......an Alaska cruise to be more exact. Why, you may ask...well, because we wanted to see what the rest of Alaska looks like

Our first stop was in Ketchikan. There were a lot of gift shops....surprise the town was a typical cruise ship port but very pretty.
Devin had the bright idea that we should go snorkeling.....in ALASKA.....those wet suits are not very flattering but sure keep you warm.
The actual under water pictures will follow since we took those on a different camera.... to my surprise it was a lot of fun and they had to force me to come back out of the water. It was a little chilly but not as cold as I expected.
The next stop was Juneau and this is the Mendenhall glacier. We took a seminar on glaciers and learned how they are formed which was very interesting. When the ice breaks off the glacier it is called calving.......ha, ha, the glacier is having a cow. We went hiking for several hours and as you can see below I was holding the mountain together..
Our ship pulled into a Fjord later this day and we got to see Daws glacier it's amazing...hopefully these glaciers will be here for many years to come.
We saw several seals resting on the ice flows.
Ice berg straight ahead.... thankfully our captain was able to navigate through them without hitting one.
Next stop was Skagway. We took a little train ride up the hill and across the Canadian border. We saw some mountain goats and eagles.

These rapids are a category 6 which means nobody has been able to navigate through them.
Skagway is mostly comprised of tourist shops which are owned by the cruise companies. The population of the town in only 800 people. On the day we were visiting 4 cruise ships were in port dumping over 10000 people in town. I hope this never happens to us in Kodiak. Only six of the stores in town are owned by locals all others have been bought out.
Our last stop was in Prince Rupert BC......and this was my favorite. A very nice town (not so touristy) with mountains, lakes and rivers all around. We decided to go kayaking and it was awesome. We even saw some black bears, seals and lots of fish. I want to come back here for a vacation.
Our final stop was back in Seattle and we went to the Museum of Flight. This is what I would look like as an Astronaute......
Unfortunatly it was to cloudy to see the glacier from the top but we did get to see this beaver dam. I wondeer how much time it takes to build one of those.

The scenery was very pretty with lots of water falls and greenery.
